My name is Amanda Andrew and I am the artist and owner of The Texas Lotus. I love making things beautiful! I recycle old furniture, bottles and all sorts of odds and ends to make beautiful art pieces. I take great pride in bringing forth the hidden beauty within. I have a keen eye for not seeing something for what it is, but for what it could be. Growing up, my mother was a hobbyist painter and my dad was an engineer. My mom cultivated creativity and taught me to imagine the impossible. My dad taught me to analyze designs and to seek understanding of the processes that makes them work. I like to say this gave me an analytic, artistic vision. I hope my art will inspire others to seek the deeper potential and beauty in all things. I believe art is very important to human growth and development. From the way we style our hair, match our clothes to a musician composing a symphony, art is interwoven into out daily lives often in ways so subtle that we may not realize that we are all truly artists at heart. For me, art is an outlet to relieve daily stressors and allows me to clear my mind. Every new project I start I challenge myself to try new techniques and experiment with new materials. I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride when I finish a new creation. I love to see the surprise and awe on the expressions of others when they see what I have created. I'd like to say it opens their minds to posibilities and changes their outlook on what it truly means to be beautiful. I hope it allows them to see not what something is superficially but the potential of what lies beneath.
